A past event that has taught me a lot is our second sections game. I feel like in the begging of the game, we wanted to win more then ever. After half time I believe that we thought since we had a lead that we haven’t seen a team come back from that we didn’t have to play hard. We were oh so wrong about this. We started to rush things and that was exactly what they wanted for us. They knew that we were a young team that wasn’t as close and experienced as them so they knew they could get to do things with us that they wouldn’t be able to do to an older team. In the end of it all i believe that this game made us a lot closer and that it made us think bout things a lot more in the games. The lesson i learned is, you don't always get what you think you deserve.

Fab Five
 The 1991 University of Michigan men's basketball freshman recruiting class, was made up of Chris Webber, Jalen Rose, Juwan Howard, Jimmy King, and Ray Jackson. They were true freashman, at the begining of the season, only three of the five freshman started, it wasn't untill later in the season that the rest of the freshman started as well, what is know today as the fab five.  Although they all played when the season opened on December 2, 1991 against the University of Detroit, they did not all play at the same time until December 7 against Eastern Michigan and did not start regularly until February 9, 1992.  However, all of their wins and Final Four appearances were vacated due to Webber and others as well accepting money from Ed Martin (the Coach), compromising their amateur status. These five guys have had the biggest impact on basketball, Michigan State, and the way basketball is played.

The Difference between Streets Smart and Books Smarts.
I believe that the difference between books smarts and streets smart is that with someone being streets smarts is that they know the streets, they know how to survive out their and not have to worry about things like people that arent street smart. Someone being book smart is that they know books, they know more what has to do with school rather then anything to do with streets.

In 1996 on a cold November day, Ikea McGriff was born. She was born to the parents of Carolyn Overs and Wayne McGriff, who lived together with ikea’s older brother Lavell a her father’s kids from a marriage before. Going up in Minnesota was a pretty good time for ikea, she went to Hall Elementary school. She started that school in high-five then stayed at the school until the fourth grade.  After that school year, things changed and the mother decided to move her and her daughter to Des Moines, Iowa. In Iowa ikea knew no one other than her family. In the fifth grade ikea started school at a brand new school that had just been built called, George Washington Carver Elementary school on the east side of town. In the middle of the school year, we moved to Johnston Iowa where she ended changing schools again called Johnston Elementary School for the rest of fifth grade. Then after fifth grade you get switched to Summit Middle School witch was just for sixth and seventh grades. After Summit you moved to the 8/9 building witch is just for eighth graders and freshman. After the 8/9 building everyone moves on to the actual high school called Johnston High School. Where the tenth through twelfth graders are.

My understanding of the phrase "knowledge is power" means simply the more you know, the better you can use it to your advantage. If you know a lot you make mistakes but at the same time you end up making better choices because you can look at the out come and make a knowledgable choices. The more knowledge you have the more powerful you are, because with the right knowledge anything is possible. You have the world in your hand simply, because the knowledge that you gained. There are many different types of knowledges, there is street, books, people, and ect. All of these types of knowledges are very useful to have simply because not everyone is all of them. They maybe a couple of them but to be all of them is a very hard this to have.

The lady polars second sections game.
This was a very big game for me and also the rest of my team meats. I came to the game feeling good because we had already won our first sections game and I thought that it was gonna happen again. At half time we were up by almost twenty points, then we started rushing and missing lay ups and free throws. Then they came back up and tide the game at fourty two. My whole team started to panic and that caused us to make mistakes and turn the ball over a lot. We ended up losing that game but as a team it brough us all a lot closer.
My first kickflip
When I first landed my first kickflip, I was so happy that I jumped off my skateboard and ran in the house and told my mom that i landed it. Then I couldn't land another one for a whole week and that was just heartbreaking for me.
Meeting Maya Moore
The very first time I met Maya Moore was the best time of my life. I was always watching her on tv and wanting to be like her in anyway that I could. I look up to her as a person and even more as a basketball play, I have the upmost respect for her. She's a really nice person all around, and has a good heart.

The Three Most Significant moments of My Life
Now that I have grown up a little, I feel like in my life that I have had some significant moments in my life. One of the most significant moments to me was when we lost the sections game last year for basketball. Another significant moment for me was when I did my first kick flip which was a huge deal for me. Last one that I believed that was a very significant moment for me was when I met Maya Moore. The reasons for me picking these things as three of the significant moments of my life is because I believe that they played a role in what im like today. All of them meant something to me at one time but even till this day i still cherish those three moments and dont think that i will ever forget them.

My name is ikea McGriff, i am 16 i attend the school of North Community High School. I am a junior I have been going to the school of north for almost a year, before I began going to north I was going to Prior Lake High School. I play basketball, tennis and I run track, before that I did soccer, softball also. Over the summer our basketball team had a AAU team that went 8-3, we had a lot of fun and it also brought us closer as a team. I am really ready  for basketball season, because basketball is my favorite sport and I enjoy playing it. I believe that this basketball season will be good and we'll win a lot of games......... hopefully
